West Virginia Drops Another One, 5-3
|
The Princes grabbed a win, 5-3, at The Rain Forest, overcoming a fine effort from West Virginia pitcher John Heyes. Heyes went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Jesus Arguello picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-6. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. Picking up the save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Melton.
Bel Air used a clutch at-bat from Danny Soto to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Princes ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said West Virginia manager Guy de Kleijn.
The losses continue to mount for West Virginia, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
