Lawmen Win Squeaker, 4-3, Over Pelicans

Chris Cruz did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the St. Petersburg Pelicans from being beaten, 4-3, to the Marshall Lawmen at The Cell. Cruz was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Hirohide Yasukawa went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The left-hander struck out 10 and walked 2. With the win, he ups his record to 1-0 this season. Marshall currently is in third place in the RCL A Dusty Baker Division at 88-69.
The Lawmen beat the Pelicans in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Tony Geisinger produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Danny Botello, Geisinger gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Geisinger. "You've got to get results."
