Downward Spiral Continues for Campo
|
The Brisbane Bush Wackers defeated the Campo NoBos, 11-6, at Baylor Ballpark. Willie Rico was one of the standouts for Brisbane. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 triple -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. The winner was Brisbane reliever Joe Evans, now 7-6. The loser was Joaquin Perez. The losses continue to add up for Campo, having now dropped 8 straight.
The NoBos had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Bush Wackers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Alfonso Valle came to the plate. Valle hit a grand slam home run on a first pitch slider from Campo hurler Teruaki Miura. It was Valle's 23rd home run of the year.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Adrián Cortés. "But it's got to translate into wins."
