In a tight contest between the Nichols Gnats and the Ocala Knights, Chad Stoppa was the determining factor. The Nichols right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Stoppa picked up the win for Nichols, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 12-9. Junzo Yamabe recorded the save, his 40th.
Marc Turner drove in one run for Nichols. The 22-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Danny Figueroa. It was his 90th RBI of the season.
"They were just a little bit better than us," Ocala manager Alexis Coates said.
Nichols is now 81-79, Ocala 94-66.
