Hawaii Tacks 4-1 Loss on San Francisco
|
The Hawaii Honu stymied the San Francisco Earthquakes, 4-1, at Aloha Stadium. Miles Sorrells had a good day at the plate. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball for Hawaii. Sorrells got the win, improving to 3-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Karl Molnar recorded the save, his 24th.
Hawaii second baseman Matt White contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 14th hit of the season and put the Honu ahead, 2-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Hawaii manager Naoki Okada. "It's usually not just one thing."
Hawaii is now 53-62, San Francisco 57-58.
