Fireballs Reel-In 8-4 Win Over Bumblebees
|
The Joplin Fireballs topped the Pasadena Bumblebees, 8-4, with first baseman Joe Parry playing a big role. Parry was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Fireballs in the win. Sean Lapinski earned the win, while 27-year old right-handed pitcher Edwin Cueva took the loss for Pasadena. Picking up the save was Matt O'Connor. He's now 6 for 9 in save chances.
Parry contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Joplin in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Parry took a changeup from Edwin Cueva and stroked the home run to left-center. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Fireballs to leap in front, 5-3.
"It was a pretty good night," said Parry.
Joplin occupies 6th place in the TML AAA Joe Torre Division at 58-97.
