The West Island Jazz rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Sam Hickey to a win, beating the Montreal Mounties, 1-0, at Stade Claude Raymond. The winner was Hickey. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Leonardo Cortez. West Island is now 64-54, while Montreal is 70-48.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Jazz had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher George Patten hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Leonardo Cortez and made the score 1-0, Jazz. Patten was 1 for 3.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Montreal manager Julián Martínez.
