Totems Drop Another One, 13-5
|
The Savannah Peaches stopped the Victoria Totems, 13-5, behind an impressive performance from Malachi Wichert. The 17-year old first baseman made life miserable for Victoria pitching. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Dave Perez earned the win. Sergio Arrache, who is tied for 4th in the TR in complete games with 1, took the loss for Victoria. The third-place Totems have lost 8 consecutive games.
Carlos Olivarez had a big grand slam home run for the Peaches in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Savannah trailing 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Sergio Arrache and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Peaches ahead, 5-2.
"We lit up the scoreboard," said Savannah manager David Flecha.
