Nutcrackers Come Up Short at Oconto Falls, 4-3
|
Daniel Calo, who is tied for 10th in the TR in strikeouts with 108, was locked in. The right-hander led the Oconto Falls Timbers to a 4-3 win against the Normal Nutcrackers at The Cove. Jason Rust earned his 10th save, after closing out the game. The Oconto Falls winning streak has reached 3 games.
Jon MacDonald had a big solo home run for the Timbers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Oconto Falls leading 3-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Mike Wood, who is tied for 8th in the TR with a 2.60 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Timbers on top, 4-0.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Calo. "It sure beats the alternative."
