Islanders Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
The Coronado Islanders powered past the Yuma Varmits, 11-8, in 10 innings at The Range. Rich Van Winkle hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3, to lead the charge. Herb Ward sewed up the save, his 1st. With the victory, the Islanders record stands at 36-38.

Coronado took the lead, 11-8, on Eugene Holden's 18th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Yuma pitcher Jose Pacheco in the top of the tenth.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Holden.
