Pirates Best Larvae in Pitching Duel
|
The Paradise Island Pirates beat the The Stinging Larvae, 2-1, at The Queen. Starting pitcher Gil Lozano was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Lozano, now 5-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 10, walking 5, and allowing no runs. Victor Crawford earned the save, his 4th, for the Pirates.
Matt Simpson, who is tied for 4th in the TR in triples with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Simpson contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put Paradise Island up, 1-0.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Lozano.
Paradise Island has now won 4 games in a row.
