Timbers Absorb 5-0 Home Loss
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Victoria Totems and Oconto Falls Timbers.
German Pineda, who is tied for 8th in the TR in quality starts with 7, never let the Timbers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Totems to a win, 5-0. Pineda, now 7-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Picking up his 1st save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Eduardo Santiago.
Victoria used the hitting of Willie Roybal to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Totems on top, 4-0. For the game, Roybal had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"German just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Victoria manager Senta Nakano.
Victoria is now 43-35.
