The Coronado Islanders picked up a win at Barack H. Obama Park, topping the Normal Nutcrackers, 4-2. On the mound for Coronado was right-hander Juan Guajardo. He played a principal role in the triumph. Guajardo got the win, improving to 1-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Coronado is 40-41 and Normal, with the loss, 14-67.

Ruben Covarrubias had a big run-scoring triple for the Islanders in the bottom of the third inning. With Coronado leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Sergio Hernandez and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Islanders ahead, 2-0.

"We have a lot of confidence in Juan," said Coronado manager Ed Lenhardt.
