Warriors Tally Another W, 6-5
|
The Walnut Creek Warriors and Seattle Sasquatch played an entertaining game for Sasquatch Field at Brewbaker Family Memorial Stadium patrons.
The Walnut Creek Warriors beat the Seattle Sasquatch, 6-5, in part because of catcher Wally Cassell. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Picking up the save was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Darren Rogers.
Walnut Creek used the timely hitting of Matt Saxton to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Warriors on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We've been playing some good baseball," Saxton told the Walnut Creek Observer. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
The first-place Warriors hiked their record to 69-34.
