Due in large part to first baseman Dave Vargas, the Normal Nutcrackers sunk the Sedona Sabercats, 6-4. Vargas went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Despite the win, Normal still has a godawful 15-69 record.

Normal used a clutch at-bat from Victor Valle to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Nutcrackers ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It was a pretty good night," said Vargas.
