Bloomington got a big-time effort from pitcher John Peters, but it wasn't enough to keep the San Francisco Earthquakes from winning the game, 2-1. Peters came in in relief and pitched to 26 batters for the losing team. The third-place Earthquakes now have a record of 59-60.

San Francisco used a timely hit from Gil Delk to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Earthquakes ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We were in it," said Bloomington manager Scott Andrews. "We just didn't score enough runs."
