Bison Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Buffalo Bison topped the Seattle Sasquatch, 4-3, in Thurman Munson League action at Thundering Grounds at Bison Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Buffalo pitcher and Duluth, Minnesota, native Jon Wambach. Buffalo pitcher D.J. Handrahan earned the win, hiking his record to 4-1. Dave Foster suffered the loss. Mike Waldrup was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 30 save opportunities.
Danny Pellot went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Buffalo. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Pellot, who is tied for 4th in the TML in triples with 6, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Seattle hurler Jeff Lombardi, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Bison a 4-3 lead.
In comments to the Buffalo Times, Pellot admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Buffalo now sports a record of 55-63.
