With third baseman Rich Van Fleet leading the charge, the Mexico City Luchadores defeated the El Paso Mavericks, 11-4, at The Corral. Van Fleet, who finished 5th in the RCL in wins above replacement with 4.2 last year, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The 5th-place Luchadores now have a record of 59-66.

The Luchadores benefited from a costly error in the top of the first. With Jose Campos at bat and Mexico City leading 2-0, the El Paso miscue allowed Mexico City to plate 2 and take the lead, 4-0.

Campos told a Mexico City Gazette reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
