The Walnut Creek Warriors racked up a win at Castlerock Field, bumping off the Milwaukee Millers, 3-2, in 10 innings. Matt White, who started for Walnut Creek, pitched effectively for his team. Walnut Creek reliever Ray Clemens picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Drew Young took the loss. Walnut Creek is off to a hot start at 9-4.
The decisive blow was delivered by Matt Saxton in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Hamilton Thomas to win the game for Walnut Creek. The home crowd went nuts.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Walnut Creek skipper Armando Medina.
