|
Vancouver turned a fine outing from starter Ricky Suazo into a victory over the Pennsylvania Butterflies at The Kaleidoscope. The final score was 5-2. The winning pitcher was Suazo, now 11-11. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The first-place Pioneers now have a win-loss record of 75-59.
Vancouver used the hitting of Ron Gerlt to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pioneers on top, 4-1. For the game, Gerlt had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Pioneers manager Lemn Onkwani. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
