Earthquakes Take Down Millers, 8-2
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes used the hitting of third baseman Geoff Raines to subdue the Milwaukee Millers, 8-2, in 11 innings. For the game, Raines went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. San Francisco is in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League West Division with a record of 66-67.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Jeff Spain came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Ron Landerman, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 4-2.
"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Kakuzo Kobayashi.
