|
The Mexico City Luchadores picked up a win at The Royal Grounds, topping the El Paso Mavericks, 8-5. On the mound for Mexico City was right-hander Dan Wallace. He played a principal role in the triumph. Wallace picked up the win for Mexico City, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. Mexico City is now 58-57, while El Paso is 53-62.
Despite the loss, the Mavericks got an encouraging performance from 22-year-old Jeff Gifford. In the top of the eighth, he hit a bases-clearing double to make the score 8-5, Mexico City. "It's not easy for a young guy to go out there and perform," Mavericks manager Lorenzo Castillo said. "But he did it like one of the vets."
