Marauders Spill Butterflies, 5-4
|
Despite a great performance by Pennsylvania second baseman Kevin Bennett, the Maple Marauders defeated the Butterflies by the score of 5-4 at The Kaleidoscope. Bennett went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Maple, now 59-75, holds down 5th place in the Thurman Munson League East Division.
Maple used the timely hitting of Kevin Spottswood to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Marauders ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I was a little disappointed," said Pennsylvania manager Aaron Barnes. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
