Eagle Rock got a terrific game from first baseman Jeremy Nowell. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Eureka, 4-3. Nowell was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. The winning pitcher was George White. His record now stands at 2-1. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Hornets. Matt Acrey closed the door for Eureka, picking up his 30th save of the year.
Eureka used the hitting of Xavier Karin to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hornets on top, 2-0. For the game, Karin had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Eagle Rock manager Paco Berroa said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Eureka is now 73-61.
