Thanks in large part to designated hitter Joe Pinkham, the Chicago Eclipse beat the Buffalo Bison, 9-7. Pinkham went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win went to Jason Beeks in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Mike Waldrup took the loss. Joe Umlah got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 30th of the year.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Brad Magen to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eclipse on top, 9-7. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Chicago skipper Demetrio Recchia.

Chicago raised its record to 64-56 with the win.
