Pharaohs Topple Ridge Runners, 6-1, as Montejano Shines
|
The Cairo Pharaohs stymied the Eagle Rock Ridge Runners, 6-1, at The Pyramid. Ignacio Montejano had a good day at the plate. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Cairo. Scott Tiede was the winner. He's now 3-9. The loser was 23-year old left-handed pitcher David Baxley. The last-place Pharaohs now sit at 49-72.
Brian Cornelius, who is tied for 6th in the RCL in extra base hits with 62, came through for Cairo with a 2-run double in the bottom of the fifth. The second baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 3 RBI.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Cairo skipper Shane Saucier.
