Hornets Deal Blazers 3-1 Defeat
|
Starting pitcher Cesar Romo gave the Eureka Hornets a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Bloomington Blazers, 3-1, at Arson Arena. Romo, now 9-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With this game in the books, Eureka is 67-54, Bloomington 60-61.
Eureka used the timely hitting of Ed Cormack to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hornets on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough loss," said Bloomington manager Leo Dethwright. "But we'll rebound from it."
