Chicago left-hander Mike Hursh helped his team edge Eagle Rock by the score of 3-2. Hursh kept the opposing lineup in check. Chicago reliever Jerry Bamberg snagged the win, upping his record to 5-4. Brian Clendenny shouldered the loss. Chicago goes to 83-60, Eagle Rock to 71-71.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Ridge Runners allowed the Eclipse to score the winning run.

"I thought he pitched pretty well," said Chicago manager Demetrio Recchia. "Mike did his part."
