The Montreal Mounties got a superb performance from pitcher Jose del Real, but the El Paso Mavericks still won the game, 7-5. del Real threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Morgan Henn converted his 34th save in 40 tries. El Paso, now 81-64, holds down second place in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division.

Brad Coates hit a 2-run home run off Randy Mowers in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Mavericks ahead, 7-5. In addition to the homer, Coates had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Coates told the El Paso Herald. "It's as simple as that."
