West Island starter Jordan Phelps put a stranglehold on the Montreal offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Jazz to a 4-1 win. The second-place Jazz lifted their record to 83-71.

The Jazz got a big at-bat from third baseman Bill Buntrock. For the game, Buntrock was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 15th double of the season gave West Island a 4-1 lead.

"Jordan was pretty good at keeping their guys off-balance," said West Island manager Pedro Gonzáles.
