Franklin Lucero, who is tied for 9th in the RCL in wins with 13, was locked in. The right-hander led the El Paso Mavericks to a 5-3 win against the Eureka Hornets at The Corral. Lucero yielded 3 runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 13-7. El Paso's record now stands at 87-70, placing them second in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division.

Joe Cloutier had a big run-scoring double for the Mavericks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With El Paso leading 4-3 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Harley Lowrie, who is tied for 2nd in the RCL in quality starts with 19, and swatted a double to center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mavericks ahead, 5-3.

"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Cloutier told the El Paso Herald. "And padding the El Paso win column."
