The Montreal Mounties picked up a win at Mount Royal Grounds, downing the Milwaukee Millers, 3-2. On the mound for Montreal was right-hander Eddie Galloza, who played a pivotal role in the win. Bill Wolfe recorded his 9th save for Montreal. The Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division-leading Mounties are 81-55.

The Mounties got a big at-bat from center fielder Gene Johnson. For the game, Johnson went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 24th home run of the season gave Montreal a 3-0 lead.

"Both teams played hard," said Montreal manager Julián Martínez.
