Privateers Score Late to Nip Outlaws, 5-4
|
The Memphis Privateers launched their 2063 campaign with a victory over the Baton Rouge Outlaws at Privateers Grounds. Memphis pinch hitter Mauricio Betances was instrumental in the 5-4 win. He went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Memphis trailing 4-1, Betances jumped on a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jon Spradling and hit a grand slam home run to left. With one swing, the Privateers had a walk-off win.
Betances told the Memphis Observer: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
