The Thunder Bay Black Bears beat the Fairfield Flash, 9-7, at Edgbaston. Thunder Bay second baseman Enrique Zarate led the way. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Mike Perschau picked up the save for Thunder Bay, his 1st of the year. At 2-1, the Black Bears have played well so far.

Mike Daniel was 1-4 with a walk for Thunder Bay. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring walk off Scott White. It was his 1st walk of the season.
