Outlaws Zip Past Black Bears, 8-0
|
The home team gave the crowd at Coca Cola Stadium something to cheer about.
The Baton Rouge Outlaws tallied a win at Coca Cola Stadium, throttling the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 8-0. Starting pitcher Cesar Rios was a big reason for his team's success. Rios yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0.
The Black Bears had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Outlaws going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Ramon Roman came to the plate. Roman hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch fastball from Thunder Bay hurler Mark Button. It was Roman's 2nd double of the year.
Rios pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
The loss drops Thunder Bay to 3-2.
