Calgary Kodiaks starter Larry Newton pitched a strong game against the Amarillo Armadillos at Foothills Stadium, leading the Kodiaks to victory, 5-4. Calgary is now 2-2.

The decisive blow was delivered by Angel Perez in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Dalton to win the game for Calgary. The home crowd went nuts.

"We found a way to get it done," Perez said.
