Cats Get Clonked by Swallowtails, 6-4
|
The State College Swallowtails picked up a win at Stars Field, knocking off the Fort Worth Cats, 6-4. On the mound for State College was right-hander Robby Welsh. He played a key role in the triumph. Welsh, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 7, and allowing 4 runs. Steve Marasco earned the save for State College, his 1st of the year.
Highland, Washington-born Clark Jahncke came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Swallowtails trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put State College on top.
State College manager Afalku Coffie praised his team's "energy."
Fort Worth, now 3-12, has gotten off to a terrible start.
