Escalera Goes 5-for-5
It was a sensational day at the plate for Amarillo Armadillos center fielder Ramon Escalera, but a tough one for the team, as the Armadillos dropped the contest, 10-2, to the Joplin Fireballs.

Even with the loss, Escalera was pure misery for the Joplin pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-5 in an explosive display of hitting.

"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Escalera, who is the 24-year old center fielder .

"Escalera really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Fireballs manager Wade Marone told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Ramon Escalera singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, tripled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Thus far this year, Escalera has hit .424 with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs.
