The Calgary Cowboys romped over the Cozumel Beaches, 14-2, at Bar Habor Stadium. Bill Thal led the way. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Calgary. Edgar Pedraza got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Beaches to 2 runs on 4 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Calgary improves to 10-9 as they look to defend their championship.

The Cowboys got a big hit from pinch hitter Michael Winters. Facing Cozumel pitcher Brian Clendenny in the top of the ninth, Winters pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 1st home run of the season put the Cowboys ahead, 12-2.

"That was brutal," said losing manager Masato Takagi. "It'll probably keep me awake all night."
