In a low-scoring contest, State College pitcher Robby Welsh was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. Steve Marasco stitched up the save, his 4th. The victory makes State College 11-9.

The Swallowtails had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, State College, with no one out. Albuquerque, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Steve Svehla dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he hit into a double play.
