Beaches Lose at Home, 7-2
|
The Tallahassee Captains reigned over the Cozumel Beaches in damp conditions.
Tallahassee center fielder Eddie Pupillo helped his team beat the Cozumel Beaches, 7-2. Pupillo, who is tied for 5th in the RAAA in stolen bases with 5, went 3 for 5 for the Captains. Arend Tarnovius picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-1. Juan Ibarra closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.
Gustavo Cabrera had a big solo home run for the Captains in the top of the third inning. With Tallahassee leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Steve Lewis and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Captains on top, 2-0.
Said Cozumel manager Masato Takagi: "They did a lot of things right. We did a lot of things wrong."
At 17-6, the Captains have played well so far.
