Peoria right-hander Mike DeGraffenried pitched his team to victory over the Joplin Fireballs at Excavatar Park. The final score was 8-3. With the loss, Joplin is 6-20.

Juan Lopez had a big 2-run home run for the Caterpillars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Peoria leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Gordie Woodworth, who is tied for 3rd in the TAAA in quality starts with 3, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Caterpillars on top, 4-0.

"The team always comes first," Lopez told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
