Thunder Bay Loses, 5-3, in 14
|
The Calgary Cowboys defeated the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 5-3, in 14 innings. Much of the credit belonged to designated hitter Bill Thal, who went 4 for 6 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Cowboys. Calgary reliever Matt Daniello got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jim Ketring was tagged with the loss. With their winning streak at 4, the Cowboys have raced to a strong start this season.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 14th. With no one out, Thal hit a cutter from Keith Sill for a 2-run home run. The Cowboys, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Thal said.
