Waimea wasted a solid 6.1-inning effort from starting pitcher Justin Sweat, losing to Baton Rouge, 2-1, at The Wind Tunnel. Jose Segovia was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Mike Blandford? The 25-year old shortstop Blandford stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Baton Rouge up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Blandford told the Baton Rouge Citizen.
