Kroes Sizzles -- Smokes Argonauts for 5 Hits
After a 5-hit effort to lead Joplin's 12-7 victory over the Astoria Argonauts, left fielder Cooper Kroes told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the TRIPLE A-level is really something special."

The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Golden Fleece Park with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Argonauts.

"His swing is getting there," said Fireballs skipper Daniel Petro, who spoke glowingly of Kroes after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Cooper did that to perfection."

Cooper Kroes singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Ron Elliott in the 9th.

Currently Kroes is batting .290 with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
