Mike Downey could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Amarillo Armadillos lost, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Peoria Caterpillars at Excavatar Park. The Caterpillars now own a record of 23-18.
The Caterpillars got a big at-bat from catcher Kasey Mayo. For the game, Mayo was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Peoria a 2-0 lead.
"Makes our job easier," said Mayo, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
