Hitmen Earn 7-1 Win Versus Thunder Bay
|
The Calgary Hitmen downed the Thunder Bay Black Bears, 7-1, at Mckinley Park. Stellar pitching by Jose Marquez had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the RAAA in wins with 5, handcuffed his opponent all game. The first-place Hitmen now sit at 31-18.
Randy Parrell had a big 3-run home run for the Hitmen in the bottom of the first inning. With Calgary leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Jim Ketring, who is tied for 4th in the RAAA in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Hitmen on top, 4-0.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Parrell after the game.
