Albuquerque Wins Pitchers' Duel, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest, Albuquerque pitcher Humberto Diaz was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. Diaz, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Curt Hall Jr. collected save number 1.
Albuquerque left fielder Jason Chaney contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 59th hit of the season and put the Cacti ahead, 2-0.
"At the end of the day, it's about putting up zeros," said Diaz.
Albuquerque is third in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division with a record of 28-27.
