The Albany Firebirds beat the Baton Rouge Outlaws, 7-3, at Capital Grounds. Dave Beyer, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 6th-place Outlaws have dropped 4 straight games.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Ricardo Velasco was at the plate when Albany scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Firebirds to go in front, 4-3.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Velasco after the game.
