The Tallahassee Captains topped the Antioch Coal Miners, 6-4, in RCL AAA action at The Coal Mine. The standout performance belonged to Tallahassee pitcher and Burlington, North Carolina, native John Wilder. The winner was Wilder. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Rich Dowdall. The second-place Coal Miners now sit at 31-24.
Tallahassee used a timely hit from Shane Burt to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Captains ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
Tallahassee manager Luis Sánchez commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
