The Calgary Cowboys had to overcome a fine effort from Minneapolis pitcher Joe Jungbauer to win, 5-4, at The Ice Box. Jungbauer went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs. Bobby Mendoza was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Mike O'Neil. Gary Selby notched his 11th save in 12 chances.

David Jankowski delivered a big hit for Calgary. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"We just never give in," said Jankowski. "We think we've got an opportunity as long as we have an at-bat and some outs left."

The Calgary win streak is now 4 games.
